Stayed in his house for a stage race last year in Mayo, seemed on the ball. He coached Mark Scanlon when he won the worlds U23 and also coached David O'Loughlin among others.

All I know is that his club Western Lakes organised the Balinrobe 2 day this year which was a great event altogether and I got chatting to him afterwards, sound out! He is very down to earth and seems to be into absolutely everything, seriously fit! Would be interested to find out how you get on, let me know if you decide to go ahead with him.

P.S. Is getting a local coach the only way so he can meet you and track your progress/test/analyse you or can you get one based elsewhere and just keep contact with your own findings and training diary etc...which do ye do if ye have a coach?

He did Mizen to Fair head in 17hrs 48mins so if you ask me i reckon he must have a thing or two to teach the rest of us....

I know he did a 1 day cycling session with Predator Tri Club in Galway last year and they were very happy with the course and will be getting him back from what I hear.

He's a savage athlete and competes in MTB, Road Racing, Triathlon and Adventure Races - plus lots of other endurance challenges. I'd be shocked if he doesn't get you fit and ready to race! Let us know how it goes whoever you go with.

He also the only Irish coach I'm aware of who did the UCI coaching course in Aigle.
    He's top notch..

had a tendency to trot out the same programmes to everyone regardless of ability experience etc..and expects the commitment of a pro regardless of your time constraints.

Been on two weekends with Padraig and he is very good. One weekend was cycling focussed, the other triathlon. Would love to have access to a coach like him nearby.

Not sure where you are based Dave11 but if you live within 30 or so miles of Ballinrobe you could always join Western Lakes CC. A few friends of mine that live near Tuam cycle with them. I've heard nothing but good things about the club. I believe Padraig designs most if not all of their sessions and training plans.

Thanks for all the feedback lads

Was on the phone to him and seems like a decent fella! Considering I'm in Dublin its a bit of a trek to Ballinrobe but might make the journey down to see what he says!!
