    Hi all

We are getting married next April but have yet to start the paperwork. We need to organise the religious paperwork first and our wedding planner has given us a list of what we need. However Im not sure how to approach it...

I live in, was baptised, made communion, was confirmed in four different parishes! Where do I start? Also, should I have done the pre-marital course before I approach the priest?

    Any advice most welcome...

    Thanks :)

    hi
First book your pre-marriage course and get it done early
Second do a list of the parish's you need to, the ones
    for baptism
    confirmation
    current
ring each, givethem the years you lived there, and ask for letters of freedom and copies of the relevant certificates.
Then approach your current parish, organise a meeting, bring copies of each of these with you, plus a photo copy of your passport and proof of address, plus the address that your wedding planner has given you for where your religious documents should go. The parish priest will complete the forms with you and send them first to teh bishops house here and then they will go on to Italy. These papers cannot be done any sooner than 3 months before the wedding.
On the civil side I am assuming that your wedding planner has asked for what she needs, such as birth certs, copies of passports and anything else she needs. These she should pass to the relevant authorities.
The day before the wedding you have to go into the town hall and complete some paperwork, swear you are not related and have not/nor stand accused of murdering a previous spouse of your betrothed ;-)
It's actually quite easy. I hope you enjoy your day even have as much as we did.

I got married in Italy in September and it was great good luck. I'd say get your marriage course out of the way first and then start with the religious stuff you'll need a cert from the Dept of Foreign Affairs too.
