    any of ye folk at this at the weekend , if so how did ye find the conditions ? my first xc race in years and i never remember running in conditions as bad as that , i think they should have called it off , sure you couldnt run really in most parts of the field !

    I was there with juvenile athletes. Whatever about how difficult it was for grown men and women, it was crazy for 10 year olds to have to run in such hardship. I know some diehards might think it will toughen them up and its real cross country but for those kids sinking into muck halfway up to their knees is no fun and no advertisement for the sport. No exaggeration as the muck was 6 or 7 inches deep in most parts of the course. You could not take a step without sinking.
