    I'm thinking of starting a little project and my title says it, gonna try make a LAW. I've had a few ideas and went onto youtube, which helped. But can anyone help me with making a trigger system. I need to make it so that when the 40MM is loaded in and the LAW turned vertically, the pin won't hit the back of the shower grenade, any ideas? Also trying to get the 40mil into the tube is proving to be difficult due to the firing mechanism:(
    If anyone has any ideas please let me know.
    Thanks:D

    i made one a while back and what i did to fire it was a brazing rod bent into a "L" shape at the thumb end and a "U" shape with the end resting on the button of the 40mm grenade, press forward with your thumb and it pushes the button in activating the grenade!

    No as my brother got it and it's at my parents house! It's crude in operation but looks the part and works!

    What you need to do is have the firing pin free moving back and forth, then as the trigger is pressed it will strike the grenade and fire it.

    so the firing pin is loose?:confused:

    My opinion: Electronic firing, solenoid based :D

    and the KISS principal goes out the window,,,,,,,

    *laughs* actually, in my mind solonoid firing IS more simple than any mechanical thingy. Mechanical is prone to failure. Good old solonoids rarely fail.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,440 ✭✭✭✭thermo

    the one i built had ONE bar as the ENTIRE triggering system KISS

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 11,001 ✭✭✭✭Masada

    Solenoids mean battery power, battery power means charging, charging leads to forgetting and thanks to the wonders of invention, Airsoft grenades have been able to avoid relying on electricity this far.
    A simple lever and push rod will be more than capable of the job, while keeping it simple, stupid. :)

    Thermo: Interesting firing mechanism, care to share it? It appears my mind cannot comprehend simplicity.

    Attachment not found.

    i improvised, adapted and overcame :D

    red=one piece bar, (a welding rod bent to shape)
    green= device body (40mm wavin)
    grey= airsoft m203 round
    blue= securing pipe for firing bar

    the real thing looks neater but it gives you an idea, unit sits on your shoulder you aim, press forward with your thumb on the wide part of red bar, bar goes forward triggering the 40mm to "fire"

    Just few questions:D

    That looks exactly like the system for the mortor sold in MIA except you just drop the grenade in that one.

    Oh its a great idea, I'm not knocking. My point is that you should start by copying a similar idea that has already been tested. For instance the mortor.

    with a mod don to the outlet pipe it would work well,
    iv seen them used on film sets with the wide triangle bit removed and replaced with a straight pipe

    Cool, well I have the bead blaster so if anyone has the other items required we can meet up and give it a whack.

    Not really stuck on anything just gotta really think about it, i know how I'm gonna make everything and in theory it works but trying to get it all on, working and being able to reload is kinda akward, get out of it I'm sure:D

    Yeah was looking at that one, and his youtube page is good too, the firing mech should work, but he uses a paintball grenade I gotta be able to take it out and put another one in, and so that rod in the link would get in the way, that's the main problem I have, glad you put up link, now it's easier to explain:D

    Ow yeah you think airsoft sites would mind people using things like this?

    Thanks mate:D

    that where is started, i wanted a mortar, but then wanted something I could carry, I had to be so difficult:(:p

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,463 ✭✭✭Leftyflip

    I wouldn't imagine any airsoft sites would have problems with it, in all fairness it is a glorified M203 launcher. Now to make a legal airsoft mortar...

    True, thought that, as it does just fire the BB's out of a shower grenade, just wondering if Paul might know,
    Might have it finished on time for my birthday game in HRTA next weekend, sweet:D

    Ye but he has it stuck in some how, glue/welder:p most likely, he doesn't have to take it out, as it fires Nerf rockets:D
