college trading project

    Hi all, I'm new to this section of boards and am hoping you could offer suggestions for a college project. My other half is doing a project on trading strategies, she has to choose an option/stock portfolio that will make money with a very short period 3 weeks.
    she is reading as many papers as she can to check if there's any technology launches.etc.. i was hoping to help her out by posting on this site by getting advise from as many as possible.
    i would welcome any suggestions.

    No offence but this seems like a strange college project that will teach very little. Over a 3 week period the variance in the markets will be so much that it will be impossible to judge whether any strategy is successful or not.

    But . . .

    You should let us know when this 3 week period begins.

    If it begins Monday I would short the indexes for the following three weeks. For more risk, more reward - use puts.

    I struggle to find anything that would yield a profit using a long-only strategy over the next 3 weeks.

    thanks for you speedy reply pocketdooz, i should have given you more info.
    this 3 week period starts tomorrow. TBH i know very little on this topic so excuse me if i didn't get the query across as clearly as possible.
    the students have 3 weeks to trade and hedge an option/stock portfilio.
    the objective is to make money:D
    i suppose it more to do with the strategy than actually making money otherwise i'd imagine it would be as easy as picking a share and hoping for the best.
