i do believe you also need good quality wireing
correct me if im wrong but i think stock wireing can get fried easily on a lipo

A 7.4V lipo would run fine on a gearbox with a few small upgrades.
New bearings/bushings (to replace the stock nylon ones).
A strong piston and piston head (to put up with the stress).

depends on a lot of factors, what type of lipo are you looking to use, 7.4v , if so this with a decent 20c+ rating the equivalent of a 9.6v 3000mha normal battery so most new clones or high ends would have no problems with running it, as others have said quality qiring and metal bushing./ bearings help but not always 100% need but will help

11.1v is a different matter all together with a decent 20c+ high mha is like strapping a 12v normal battery to your aeg, you main problem is that gear spin to fast and engage the piston to soon ripping into the teeth and breaking the piston, the 1j spring is not fast enough at returning the piston to the rest position

you can set your gear box up to stop this, remove teeth, short stroking, vented cylinders with beefier spring, stuff like this, all depends on the combination of parts from gear ratio to motor can have an effect and need to be tuned ideally, but expect to go thought a few pistons :)

not everything , do a search or arnies or airsoft mechanics and they go into far more details

theirs a lot of aeg that use the tag line lipo ready at the moment as the new buzz words, unfortunately this normally means a lipo which tbh means nothing as i;ve already said its the equivalent of a 9.6v large in most cases, people unfortunately take this as 11.1v ready and shred the piston within a few hundred rounds

last kwa we had down that was li-po read last 3 mid caps

    just my 2 cents

I know, it was a joke on the truth of their "lipo ready" claim:)
