Scotland had the wind in the first half and are winning at half time 1-5 to 0-5

Hurling's version of international rules is a peculiar game.

Most of the players are from the so called smaller counties, Carlow, Meath etc. I guess the best known players would be Tommy Walsh, Shane Dooley and Shane O'Neill.

Score is now 1-5 to 0-6 with 45 minutes gone

Ireland a point up now. The BBC commentators keep going on about Tommy Walsh, but the guy they think is Tommy Walsh is not in fact Tommy

With 10 minutes to go Ireland 0-11 Scotland 1-5. Ireland scoring from long range with the wind to go ahead, they seem to be going for goals now to try and kill it off. Shane O'Neill is playing well in the forwards for Ireland

Not sure who it is the commentators keep calling Tommy Walsh, but he has gone off with blood pouring out of his face. He was caught with the end of a shinty stick

Is that the Shane O'Neill who plays in Cork's full-back line?

Shane O'Neill goal on the 73rd minute, game should be ours now

Ireland win 1-11 to 1-08, there was a big shout for a Scotland penalty in 75th minute.

Last year I saw the highlights on OB sport. I wonder if it will be the same this year.

    Thanks.

Great to win it back at last. I'll watch it on TG4 later :D

There were U-21 and camogie matches earlier on today, Ireland won the U-21 by 1 point and won the womens by 8 points. White wash for Ireland not to bad :D

What is the coverage like for Shinty in Scotland? Is it on telly often, is it as well organised as the GAA?

That wasn't Shane O'Neil, the Irish must have swapped jerseys before throw in, the BBC commentry was all over the shop.

It was funny though, I never knew Tommy Walsh was 6' 6"

Probably confused him with the Kerry footballer.

I was wondering, the Tommy Walsh one was obvious to me, but they never really showed a close of anybody else

Watched it on TG4, so I can clear up some of the confusion.

Joe Dooley took a leaf out of Loughnane's book by naming a dummy-team:

Shane O'Neill was supposed to be wearing #5, but was wearing #14 and was playing in defence.
Shane Dooley was supposed to be wearing #13, but was wearing #5 and was playing in the forwards. As a result, the BBC were calling him Shane O'Neill who should have been wearing #5. Confused yet?:confused:
Tommy Walsh was supposed to be wearing #8, but was wearing #18.
#8 was Gareth Johnson the Down full-forward. It was him who was hit in the face. Just a cut on the bridge of the nose, but he was very angry about it because the challange was so late it could have been on Letterman.

Stand outs were Tommy Walsh and Shane Dooley.
Walsh particularly in the 1st half when Ireland were against the wind and under pressure. Scored 2 and made 2 of a 5-point half-time total.
Dooley particularly in the 2nd half. Took some excellent scores, showing tremendous skill in the process and, of course, got the crucial goal. :D

Dooley looked good from what I saw.

What was the story with that equaliser Scotland got in injury time, they got 2 points for a free? Was raging with that until Ireland got the goal then.

Game was fairly crap but got a bit intense near the end after the Irish player got the clatter in the face. Had to LOL at the state of the pitch and grounds and the goalposts wobbling in the wind.

2 points for a free from the ground or a sideline.

Weather has been really rough here in Glasgow for the last few days, Dundee United vs Rangers was abandoned today due to rain, so must have been bad in Inverness and lucky it was yesterday rather than today.
