ArmA II: COOP 1-8 Terror from the Seas

Need an 8 man crew, anyone up for trying this later? (or even tomorrow or an eve during the week as its halloween and some will be busy)
    Description:
A force of insurgents has landed on southeast Utes. You play as a squad of Marines tasked with crippling this invading force.
The mission is designed for 1 to 8 players in co-operative multiplayer.

    Mission features:
    No addons required.
User-selectable objectives. There are three different objectives -- neutralising the insurgent leader, destroying a stash of supplies, or taking out an enemy mortar position. Choose to do any one alone, or if you have the time, try to do all three.
User-selectable difficulty setting: you choose how many enemies there are -- "Tiny", "Small", "Medium" or "Large".
User-selectable time-of-day. Play the mission at any time.
Random enemies -- all soldiers have random equipment and skill levels. All squads have randomly varying sizes and most follow randomised waypoints. This allows for greater replayability as the mission is never the same twice.
    Random weather.
Uses the BIS first aid modules -- if you get hit there's a chance your comrades can drag you to cover and apply first aid.
Custom spectate script. No player-controlled crows!

Its prob best to organise this for tomorrow (Sun) afternoon as I'll be busy myself later (damn kids!!) and so might others. Anyone else on for this?

I've a few other missions on the server if this doesn't work out, we've tried some before but now they have been updated and the games been patched:
Coop 1-6 - Behind enemy lines
Coop 12 - Heroes of Chernarus: Force Recon
    Coop 14 - Hunt Waldo
Coop 14 - We Were Soldiers

guys, while im waiting for my rig to get set up, are there any sites/tutorials that will help me to a grip on the basics of Arma2...esp the MP mode, which I know is where the most fun is. The missions above for example sound great fun. I would like to have a decent knowledge of the game before I get practising.

    thanks.

Monday would probably be the soonest I can get on.

I could possibly get on tomorrow night.

On an embarrassing note, I played the other day, talking into a mic for a good two hours and the mic wasn't plugged in... :o

The MP player games can vary dramatically. Theres no real set of rules you can follow and be successful, you will pick it up fairly quickly the more you play.

I'd have a quick blast of the campaign though, or try some of the single missions just so you get your eye in and that you find your way around the keyboard. I played last week for the first time in a couple of weeks and I struggled to hit anything.

Start by watching this vid to show You what they're trying to achieve and play the sp campaign for a bit. It'll probably take a while to get the game optimised on Your pc, open a thread here and we'll advise. Do the training missions. Running around and flying in the armoury is great fun and experience also. Nothing will teach You better than getting online with voicechat as we can give You tips/trick v quickly, like reading a guide that tells You that right ctrl+m keeps Your gps open, it doesn't sink in until You're told on voicechat and do it for Yourself.

The game really takes a long time to master, weeks even, but nobodies an expert. Like Kenon, I found myself finding it hard to get kills after a while away from it, had to learn again and even remember how to use the gun scope accurately to allow for bullet drop. I've found myself having to google real life weapons/vehicles etc to find out things about the game

Looks like maybe it might be better to arrange this for monday evening. Say 8 or 9 O'Clock on mumble, give everyone a chance to eat and refresh after work.
Need more people though, anyone else available?

Monday evening is fine for me. If I can tear myself away from Borderlands...

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 13,874 ✭✭✭✭PogMoThoin

I'm in the same boat, Borderlands is epic fun, not getting time for playing anything else and we're into a gaming hot spell with it being the start of the run up to xmas, Shattered Horizons during the week, COD MW2 the 10th and loads more.

How about we try to make Monday evenings ArmA II night every week? Need to make use of the server. Its gonna take a new patch (soon from what I've read) and the Ace 2 mod (no idea when) to regain interest in the game. Anyone else wants to suggest a mission to try just let me know and I'll upload it. Also anyone who's got the game and not tried online, now is a great time to join. Where are all You disgruntled OPF2: DR on pc players?

I should have new rig set up and running end of week, so if there's going to be a weekly monday night Arma 2 night then I'll def be up for it.

And thursday, those of us who were online this evening agreed to play thursday as well. Thursdays prob a good night to get as many as possible as people could have commitments over the weekend.

I asked the creator of this mission if he had any more similar missions, this is his reply:
For ArmA 2 I've one more coop mission: Rescue Major Savinkov. It has a rather similar "feel" to it, aside from the fact you play as Chedaki. I am hoping to (eventually) release an updated version that adds a grass on/off option and makes a few tiny changes, but the version that exists at this time of writing is quite playable, except for the 5% chance your exfiltration boat will get stuck on its way out to sea. :(

    Already on the server :D

That was a great mission last night. Very, very difficult. I'd consider myself rather gung-ho normally in ArmA and therefore die a lot but in this you are forced to be very very careful, constantly looking for a nice wall/tree/HMMMV/rock to hide behind, moving very slowly and sticking close to everyone else.
