hi im still a "screen" virgin but have heard mixed reports of the quality of their screenings..some saying it is basically a dvd being played of the classic films.can some1 please tell me this aint so. Does quality stand up to ugc or ifi screenings and is it actually a film print being shown? I can handle a dirty old print with a few speckles and lines on it. Thanks in advance

Most classic screenings will be shown on DVD when digital is not available, as getting your hands on an original 35mm print can be very, very difficult with older movies. Even if you can get one, the quality can vary from good to unwatchable and the cinema wouldn't know how good or bad it is until the print arrives and is tested.

35mm also carries an additional cost so most cinemas would rather take a digital copy or DVD so that they can be guaranteed a decent quality show.

    Hope this helps :)

No thats just silly he wont be in my basement ...he will be chained to my bed obviously ...Good God man ...get your facts right :P

I also cannot wait to see Jurrasic Park in the cinema ...but bar American Psycho ...the best Classic movie coming to the cinema has to be The Lion King..... "Come on dad, wake up" ....:(

I think it is ...just not your typical horror it goes outside the box .... also if its in a Horrorthon has to be a horror :P

It's intended to be a dark comedy/satire. I'd say horror is it's secondary nature at best,
also if its in a Horrorthon has to be a horror :P

They've broken that rule plenty of times before.

As far as I know the Jurassic Park re-release is a digital remaster similar to what Back to the Future got a while back.

It's not a horror film, it's satire and plays quiet well alongside Starship Troopers. The Machinist would be more if a horrir film than AM. Horrorthon is sadly rarely ever an all out celebration of horror, every year they show some "cult" films which are far removed from the genre if horror.

Nice, hope it gets a wide enough release to play in the shticks. Have very fond memories of going to see it when I was a dinosaur obsessed 11 year old, been meaning to rewatch it for a while and where better to watch it than the cinema. :)

Always amazed me how much the original trailer for Predator gave away! I saw the movie first when I was about 9 (thought it was the best thing ever -still do!) but only saw the trailer for the first time when I bought Predator on DVD about 10rs ago and I couldnt believe how much was given away!

For a start, it shows you (spoilers hardly necessary but just in case!)
    Dillon and Mac getting killed!
And it also shows wayyyyy too much of the Predator itself - the whole "thing" about Predator is, like Jaws, you don't see him til an hour into the flick and you've spent that hour wondering to yourself "What the f*ck is doing this to these people??"

Mayo Movie World, Castlebar (i think that is what it is called) is showing it as far as I know.

was a classic trait of older trailers..u think that is bad..watch a typical trailer from the 70's!it literally is the whole film, not exaggerating..sometimes almost full scenes from the movie included

Crazy... but I'm not sure it's any better today... have had a few films ruined on me in the past year or two by watching the IMDB trailer first!

hopefully I am right - one of the owners told me all his cinemas are showing it, and I am convinced that Mayo Movie World was listed as one of the cinema's showing.

Honestly, we get it. There are you know, other films, many of which are considerably better than American Psycho.

I'm seriously tempted to ban any mention of the film from this thread until a week or so before the screening date.
