Just wondering has anybody else read this and wanted thier take on it.

The story norman osborn(The big bad of the Marvel U) sends an army and Draken (Wolverine son) to finish The Punisher(Frank Castle) and mark him off his list.

So The Punisher is hanging around in safe house when Norman army attacks. On the run his attacked by Draken. They get into big and bloddy brawl. Draken calls off Norman guards and says he wants to finish this himself.

The Punisher is pinned up against the wall. Hurt and with nobody to help it seems to be the end for Frank Castle. Draken goes in for the kill and does.

Draken chops the head off Frank and rips his body apart. I assume this was a robot/clone or something like that. But not so.

At the end of the book is a preview of the next issue of The Punisher and shows a picture of Frank body patched up like Frankenstein and the title going to be The Punisher: FrankenCastle.

I mean it seems to be a way of taking Frank out of the Dark Regin story in the same style they took Hulk out of civil war. But there must have been a better way then this and going to be such a pain in the ass to bring him back to normal.

The Punisher is one of my favourite characters but I have to commend the writers for not copping out and have Frank & Daken fight to a 'draw'. Having Frank resurrected as some sort of undead vigilante might work even if it has overtones of that awful angelic run but the new design seems to be based on Herman Munster so it looks like they're going for a silly comedic tone.

The issue itself was very solid, with some terrific writing and very suitable art. But yeah, I fear a thunderous retcon heading our way. FrankenCastle might be interesting but, good Lord, surely Quesada must know OKing this kind of thing is going to cause a lot of nerd aggro.

Can't be any worse than Frank Castle as an angel. That was terrible, and the wolverine crossover story with that version of Castle was awful stuff indeed.
