This was recently screened at the IFI Horrorton and I was wondering if it was going on general release here anytime soon (I'm surprised it wasn't release for Halloween).

It's getting excellent reviews stateside and looks like a genuinely creepy 80's style shocker. Has anyone seen it? I for one am really looking forward to it :D

Saw this at the IFC Horrorton with two friends. They loved it me not so much.

The good bit it looks and feel like an 80's film. Jocelin Donahue as Sam carries the film through many boring bits. It feels like it takes 40 or so mins before we even get to the house and another 20 before anything happens.

The start of the film is mostly Sam walking around looking for a job and telling anybody that will listen she really's need money.

Cue babysitter job that seems to good to be true(Hint it is) that takes her to an old scary house.

Then her walking through the old house trying to figure out what's going on before it all kicks off.

Suming up there pacing issues and a few plot holes but it is ok. Ti West can only get better from here. I belice he wrote, directed and edited House of the Devil and is in line for Cabin Fever 2.

I saw this lastnight and it is absolutely muck! The trailer made it look really good..............I can't believe it got such a high rating on the likes of Rotten Tomatoes

I saw it at the horrorthon and loved it. It was a great slow-burner and really nailed the 80s looks and feel. It didn't rely on gore and there was a building tension all throughout the film. What can I say, it hit all the right buttons for me. Probably my favourite film at the festival this year.

Seems like a lack of patience is the problem above. I agree though, I look forward to Ti West's future films.

Just watched this tonight after watch The Babadook. I really really enjoyed House of the Devil, it's well acted and keeps you wondering what is really going on, an 8/10. The Babadook was useless though imo 2/10
