A moment of realization

I thought back through the venues I have played since I first started gigging at 17. I am only 23 now but it is quite shocking to think now that I am starting a new band, that every venue that I have gigged is no longer as it was when I previously played it. All of them have been closed and re-opened or just closed (to the best of my knowledge).

Dorans - now 4 Crown Alley, haven't been inside
Voodoo Lounge - closed
TBMC - Used to like playing here, now it is the much more high profile Button Factory
Alfie Mulligans - closed
The Hub - now Think Tank, I haven't gigged here as yet, it is def nicer venue now
Boom Boom Room - not 100% sure what the story is here

Just wondered what venues people like gigging in the most now? I mean we all want to play Whelans or The Village or Academy 2 or something but they can normally take a contact or a promotor involved and are not too easy to get a slot in (to the best of my knowledge). What venues are good and not to hard to get slots in? And what was your favourite ever gig to date? Old or new venue. I have two, one was in TBMC a good few years ago and another was about two years ago in Eamonn Dorans. TMBC was a great place to play as a young band I thought.
