Can anyone give some advice on what to do the day before a big cycle? i've bein told to load up on as much high energy food as possible! i've also bein told to just take plenty of fluids and have an early night. so any ideas from people who actually know what they're talking about would be greatly appreciated

Yeah a bucket of pasta and a keg of water.

Now I'm no expert so I'm sure others will have more advice for you.

I wouldn't overdo it to be honest, you will just end up putting on weight and stressing your system. Don't do anything radically different to what you are used to.

I tend to eat slightly more than a usual portion for my dinner the day before but certainly no more than 50% extra. Maybe generally around 25% extra.

    Hydration is good.

    Define big??
But eating a little more the night before and a good breakfast (porridge) is important and eating something every hour or so on the bike and keeping well hydrated on the bike and before the cycle.
No need to drink or eat massive amounts of energy bars/gel unless your sweating and pushing hard.

    This one:
Twenty cyclists from a local Killaloe cyclist group are organising a charity cycle for Aware. The event takes place on 31st October 2009 over one day, cycling a planned route of over 100km's. The race starts at Killaloe Co Clare, cycling to Ennis Co Clare and returning to the finish line at Killaloe.

Or it could be the 80KM I am doing Louth tomorrow for charity.

But either way its not the WW200 and both will be flat enough so not too much strain on the body just take it at your own pace, plenty of fluid and a small bit of food on the bike.

Mea culpa, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa. I didn't realise you had searched it! You clearly must have been killing time! Either way my humble advice still stands!!
