At what age should a GWP be pointing?

my 11 month old GWP has not really locked onto a scent yet. he is hunting but not finding anything. Should I just be patient? I was thinking about getting some birds and planting them. Is this a good idea to test his reaction?

    Be patient!

People have told me Gwp only come in to there own at the age of 2/3

Mine a Gsp was the same at 11 months not much interest in scent

    but turned out alright;)

    I wouldnt be too worried

be patient and when he is ready he will set. every dog is different and nothing will be gained by planting birds

my oldest weimaraner bitch ended up never pointing, just flushing birds  all her pups that were used for hunting did, but she just never took to it. she has one of the best noses that ive ever come across though so i bought a coker bitch to complement her and its worked a treat so far!!!!! fingers crossed this year is good aswell......
