havent been in ww in a while, last time was mid sept and I went up Kippure. i am not sure what the weather is supposed to be like though. Will get there even if it rains but might shorten the spin to SG and back is it's p!ssing.

    Raam, you're joining?

I will be along on my borrowed bike. It is very likely that I will need to turn back early due to a lack of fitness! :o

Myself and a workmate hope to get a decent Wicklow spin during the week. I know you stop for R&R in Laragh. Given that I assume they are cycling friendly where do you use?

    Enjoy tomorrow

I'm available for a spin in Dublin on Sunday and also during the week at some point.

No Wicklow Gap? Might be tempted if anyone else is going that way.

What? I WILL be there, not heading out or anything!

Not that I'll have the faintest chance of going or anything but I was just wondering, is it acceptable to turn up with the bike hanging off the back of the car? Or do you find somewhere half a mile away to hide the car and turn up on the bike claiming to have spent the last hour or so cycling across the city?...

I'm sure you can park somewhere close. I have only a short 12km to Edmonstown road, some people have further to go. If it's less than 25km to Edmonstown rd then you should be able to cycle it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,400 ✭✭✭Caroline_ie

    Yes, about 18km myself.
Dirk, bring a hat you'll feel the cold ;) hehe

    88.4km for me.

    Amazing day, but strong winds.

You can call me wimp I decided to leave my own spin and call it a day at the SG Cross roads 3 of us left at that stage. Bad breathing and heavy head wind. Was great to see everyone though! And some new faces too.

I'll see some of you tomorrow anyway for more WW hills :)

PS: Dirk's hair isn't that short, i am sure he only cut it so it grows longer, stronger and even more beautiful.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,505 ✭✭✭✭DirkVoodoo

Good spin today, really enjoyed it.

Greyspoke is an absolute machine by the way, can't believe the way he went up the sally gap on his fixie.

Also, my hair isn't that short, but I no longer need to worry about helmet hair.

Man, we got soaked on the way back. Thought I was swimming at one point.

Was that after I left? No rain at all here, must be a northside thing.

Yup, happened after we crossed over the river :)

We had hail coming in to Brittas. Massive things they were, we will probably have bruises. Road was underwater for much of the rest of the way back.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 445 ✭✭LDB

Crikey that was hard. That's the last time I take a rest off the bike.
Thanks again to Greyspoke for the tube - gent :) and to emty for changing my puncture!!

great to see everyone and meet a few new people too.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 385 ✭✭emty

Have to say, that was fun :D. Nice to see such a large turnout.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,314 ✭✭✭Nietzschean

Hail, water, grit, cars trying to see how much they could splash me(they were all looking out the window laughing ;) ), i don't think they realised at that point i wasn't getting any wetter and it didn't really matter...

Anyhoo good to see everyone, good spin, 110km for me or so

Well Holy God! as Miley used to say! I don't think I've ever had so much water (and hail) dumped on me in such a short space of time as this afternoon - at least there wasn't too far to go and thankfully it wasn't a few degrees colder or it would have been instant hypothermia. Anyhow apart from that little divine intervention it was a great day and I'm glad to have finally made it out with you guys and a more friendly bunch you couldn't hope to meet - I must do it again!

And once again, my apologies for being late. Someone moved Rathfarnahm. Yes that must be it. It's certainly not my sense of direction, that's for sure.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,505 ✭✭✭✭DirkVoodoo

...and yet you have a Garmin.

Speaking of which, I think I may make the move to one next year, my polar is really bugging me, it stopped recording speed after laragh so i had to delete my info and use bikeroutetoaster to work out my distance.

'Epic' Caroline promised, and so it proved. It's tough maintaining dignity when crouched pathetically under a bush, trying to avoid bastard hailstones.

Great spin. Doubly impressive performance by Greyspoke on his 'God Save The Queen' fixie, the man must have bionic knees.

Hello all, Raams brother here. Just a quick thanks for having me on your cycle. You are a real nice bunch and I had a great time. Hope to ride with you again the next time I am over on holidays.
