I Just heard the Mother of Gearoid Walsh on the RTE1 radio news & she held zero malice towards the man her son was fighting with in Australia.

    That Lady is humanity personified.

Yes, I have to say she seemed very calm and collected for a mother who just lost her son.

If forgiveness or whatever grants her peace - then that's a fantastic thing.

I can't help feeling that it's somehow unnatural, however.
You should feel malice towards to a man who murders your son.

I suppose she has a range of emotions to go through yet though.

nothing humane about condoning the killing of someone , i found her speech to be bizarre in the extreme tbh

He hasn't been charged with murder. It was manslaughter. Murder shows intent. It seems Gearoid died from hitting his head as a result of the fall.

I don't think she was condoning it. She seems to think that it was not intentional.

A great response to losing her son. I doubt I would be as balanced in my dealing with the loss of a loved one in that way, but if her understanding is it was not murder and just a tragic accident, I agree with her.

Ah, I see. I wasn't really up on the details of the case. I thought he'd been set upon.

Puts the mother's comments in a bit more perspective.

i can only put her extroridinary response down to shock , i seriously doubt she will maintain this position

Well as mentioned, it's manslaughter, not murder. From what I read on the paper, he was struck once, and as a result he fell and hit his head.

In fairness, this could happen to anyone who happens to get in a drunkin fight. If there is any1 here who has ever punched someone in the face, you could have found yourself in a position whereby you are being charged with manslaughter, so I'm guessing this is the way the mother is seeing it.

Didn't know Eirebhoy but from what I've read, seems like this couldn't have happened to a nicer , more helpful fella. My thoughts are with his poor family.

    R.I.P

we,ve all done that and had it done to us but when someone dies , the law must be followed , if you let the likes of this slide so casually , order breaks down

I feel sorry for the guy tbh, this really could happen to anyone! Fair play to him for not running.

More bits in the paper suggests that Eirebhoy provoked this.
Fair play to his Mother for her comments regardless
