Hi I have just been offered a couple hours work a day for 3 days a week in total about 7 hours a week and I'm currently receiving jobseekers allowance. I was just wondering if I take the job will I still be able to claim jobseekers allowance even if a reduced rate? Thanks

You will yes. Once you dont work over 3 days per week you are entitled to some payment. Just call into the SW office and let them know of the change. They will give you slips which you fill out to say which day you were working and which days your werent. You then drop this slip into the SW office every week and they send you out your cheque in the post.

I'm working part time but they've bumped me up to 4 shifts a week, which would be fine but I'm only getting 12 hours a week. So i'm actually only coming out with about €115 p/w(just over €9 an hour). So now I'm spending about €15 getting into work and not getting part time benefit. I'm thinking of leaving purely because it's not enough to live on right now. But i'm afraid I'll have to re-apply for the dole and go on the waiting list, any advice would really be appreciated.

One thing to be aware of though, is that if you work for even one hour in a day, you will not get payment for that day.

So if you are working 3 full days you can claim for the other 3 days, but if you are working all half days then you can claim nothing, even if you work the same hours as 3 full days.
