Handicap - max shots back in 1 season?

What is the max number of shots you can get back in a season?
I suspect I know the answer as I think I've hit the limit this year - sad

13.8 start... target of 10... current 15.8 I presume.
A target of 10 and unhappy now that 16 is too little?

I'm sad because I've hit the +2 limit. Wasn't what I set out to do...
Started out with 12.8, now on 14.8
Target of 10 & very sad that turned out to be 15 and would almost be worse were it not for the +2 cap on handicap increase...

I'll still write 2010 goals though

you can get 40 point ones back in a year.

Spoke to an utter bandit who informed me about this. You get 20 point ones then break standard scratch once and you can get 20 more...never knew this.

According to Congu;
"20.10 Increases in Exact Handicaps should not be subject to restriction unless a Union so directs. A Union may restrict the increase of Exact Handicaps to a maximum of 2.0 strokes in a calendar year except increases granted under Clause 23."
(Clause 23 is the annual review)

I presume this is in place in Ireland but can't say for sure.
According to the above (assuming it's in place) then you don't get the point ones back at all... like it's not a case of your exact handicap being allowed to increase while your playing handicap is kept down (which would be messy)?

Licksy..my point is that you are not restricted to 20 point ones back once you break standard scratch once ....if you break standard scratch you are cut but you can still make it up with point ones even if you have already received 20 point ones... I thought that when your handicap can only move by two shots then you could only get 20 point ones but i have checked this out with handicap secretary in club and he confirmed that forty can be got e.g

begin year on 12.5 get 20 .1's move to 14.5..break standard scratch and get cut to 12.5 you can then get 20 more to bring you up to 14.5.. Must check your point that if you are cut e'g .9 for breaking standard scratch will you only get up to the value of 9 .1's back

This is pure bandit carry on though in fairness
