What make car do you have? You need to switch around the Red/Yellow wires connected to the radio.

MAybe the continuous live and the ignition cables have been reversed? So when the ignition is off it loses all power? That's what happened to my when i wired up my Aldi stereo.
Or has this just started happening out of the blue?

I had the same problem with a sony hu. Swapping the red and yellow wires sorted the problem. The yellow wire is constant 12v supply for the radio so stations stay in memory.

As stated above - the constant +12VDC supply is being interrupted whenever you turn off the ignition.

Google the make/model of stereo and you should find a wiring diagram/legend. Connect the +12VDC (or 'Memory') wire direct to the battery and you should be OK.

Kenwood is the original equipment on that car. dealer fit. maybe they made a bags of it. could need the wires swapping.

take another look at the wires.
Look for this type of connection on one of the red wires and one of the yellow wires.

If or when you find it. Swap them

just to follow up on this matter, i pulled the radio out and swapped the wires and all is fine now!

i turned on and off a few times and all stations remained.

will double check it in the morning when i get back into it and see if there still stored but by the looks of things, this is all that was wrong.

    once again, thanks again guys.

now for my next problem.....the dashboard LCD clock - it works perfect but is very very dim, ie. you cant make it out. is there a bulb of some sort behind it?

when you figure that one out, let me know. I've to change the bulb in my g/f's clock but I'm worried its going to be a big job.
