Send them an email, even if they're not what you're looking for, they'll be really good at giving you advice for what you do want!
I went to Whistler last January for 10days and it was AWESOME! It's a huge resort, beuatiful, loads of terrain!

reccommend http://www.alluradirect.com/whistler/ we actually stayed in Creekside - much cheaper and closer to the (quieter) creekside gondola, easy to ski into whistler from there..

Obviously make sure the Para Olympics games are over when you come to Whistler- i'm here right now for season!:D:D
Creekside Gondola will be closed during the games,so you will want to stay in Village or upper village if you come then, but it is highly unlikely you will get accomodation.

Check whistler blackcomb website for deals on hotels now, also look into flying into Seattle,Washington about 1 hour south of Vancouver - further 2 hours to Whistler on new highway. Can work out cheaper.

It should be a good season here, alot of people going elsewhere so will be quite on the mountain, snow already falling and hoping it will open mid november

Depending on you cash situation - Squamish is a 30/40 min drive from whistler ,its half the price

We had finished season in Alberta and stayed here , great hotel, it has a black hole type water slide , the most random and fun thing ever, that launches ya across the pool

Also the best run in whistler by far is go up blackcomb glacier and take the button lift to the very top , and walk to the right and in the direction that the button lift was bringing you , follow the path around the cornor and there is a massive bowl to ride down , its amazing
