    Hi Folks,
Can someone tell me what the difference between garda vetting and a security check is?
This is in relation to a job in healthcare

If I had to answer this question in the pub, I would guess that Garda vetting is a check/determination on whether you pose a danger to children or otherwise vulnerable people (such as those you would be required to take care of).
A security check on the other hand is probably a check to see if you've been convicted or any theft/fraud/assault offences or otherwise pose a security risk.

    I could be wrong though.

the gardai vetting is done through there thurles office, i.e a company needs to check out your past they get you to fill out a form and they submit it to the gardai.

the security check is more or less the same some companies depending on were your going be working require the last ten years of were you have been.(the likes of people getting access to restricted areas i.e airports etc).

at the end of the day its just to make sure you have been a good boy/girl
