How much are your club's competition fees? I.E. how much do you pay to enter into your weekend stablefords and medals etc...

normally €5 with optional €2 for 2's club

yep same. €10 for medals and larger competitions (captains, presidents etc.)
The two's in my club are a waste of space, you get golf balls for winning it.

I pay €5 a competition (for every comp, Sat, Sun or Tue 14 hole), than the club charge members €10 to play in opens that they hold which is very annoying, god sake €5 is enough! They charge more for the big ones captains etc..

When you add up the figures it is quite significant, especially when you play most Sundays and the odd Saturday here and there.

5+2 for normal events, 8+2 for Medals etc. The 2's pot is simply divided among the 2-getters. With all four of our par 3s being 160-190 yards, a 2 is usually worth a few quid.

€4 for weekends and in our club if somebody scores a hole in one they get the twos pot even though its not a two, also the pro in the club runs the two's and if nobody scores a two or better he keeps the pot and finally in a recent captains prize the pro ran a book for the day as is usual for our majors and the winner did not back himself so there fore you would think the pot would be divided up but not so ,the pro again keeps the money if the prize winners do not back themselves is this the norm in other clubs????

My experience has always been that the pot is carried over to the next week.

What's the prizes for winning/ placing in each of those respective competitions?

€5 for weekend competitions... no 2's as yet
€4 for (mixed) wednesday 9-hole competition + €1 for a birdie hole competition. Most everyone pays in to this... after everyone has finished their round, one of the 9 holes is drawn out of a hat and anyone who has a birdie on that hole shares the fund. If it's not won then it gets carried over to the following week. Can become valuable particularly if you birdie a difficult hole. I had 5 birdies one night but a different hole was drawn :)
Also, a scorecard is drawn out of the bunch and once the person is present in the clubhouse then their name goes forward to an end of season draw for a holiday voucher... you can be drawn out more than once over the summer which gives you a good chance. I think it's €1,000 first prize and €500 for second... you could have had 12 points for the 9 holes with one birdie and be happier than the guy who won (with 24)

    Captains/Presidents cost more, €10 I think.

I'm not sure what prizes are there week in week out, just know about the results I have gotten.

I came third in a €5 one the other week and got a €50 voucher. Not sure what first prize was.

I came first in 3 man €10 event (€10 each) and we got a €60 voucher each.

I came 2nd in a €20 event and got a digital camera (worth about €270). First place for that event was a watch, not sure of value.

I must say Licksy from your posts here and on other threads your club seems really member friendly, a lot of clubs I know wouldn't put anywhere near the amount of time or effort your club puts into its competitions. There's a few clubs around me and its clubs into the back of the car and home straight with little or no craic or banter after your round. Those draws mentioned must be great to keep things interesting when your having a howler and a bit of craic to look forward to back in the clubhouse.

The 9 hole on Wednesdays in the summer is excellent for the social side of things. It starts around 5pm and you don't book, you just turn up and play. Some guys will play with the usual crew but equally you can turn up on your own and hook up with whomever is waiting on the tee. It's the best way of mixing and mingling because we don't have draws for competitions very often.
The competition is open to men and women too which is good (in my opinion).
There are usually a few menu specials in the bar afterwards so most people go upstairs for a bite if they can. The holiday draw gives you an incentive to stick around because if your card is drawn and you're gone home then another card gets drawn instead.
In the real long evenings you might not be inclined to hang around but often guys will play 18 before going in.
Mostly the competitions are stableford off the whites so crazy scores can win it but it's fun to go out there and play aggressively for birdies with no consequences for the inevitable mistakes (unlike regular qualifying competitions where you'd mind the card a bit more).
