Been using this lately and it is very handy.
    Similar to .mac
You have an online folder with 2GB of storage.
If you upload anything to it any computer synced to the account automatically updates when you open it.
Great for throwing mixes, samples etc on.
I upload mp3s of mixes and then can listen to them at home and not bother with email or portable drives or anything.
It will also stream mp3 files from your "public folder" giving you a unique url for anything you put there.
It adds a small ap to your computer and you have the dropbox folder in the menu bar. It works like any normal folder except anything you put in it goes online automatically and anything you delete from the folder is deleted from your dropbox account.
Most useful new ap I have used in ages.

I'm working on a project with a guy in Sydney and another in Melbourne - Dropbox has saved us so much trouble - really helps collaboration projects sync together.

    I was being sarcastic!!!!

I guess you can upload files to an online storage facility and anyone with .ftp password can login and share multiple formats and file types?

I have used something like this for downloading files from a games company in Russia.

Nope - it's client too client. It's synchronizes the folders LIVE over the web - for example, i have one folder that is shared with 3 other people (that i've chosen to allow access.... when i drop a file into it (on my desktop is a designated 'dropbox' folder) all the other people get it in their file on their desktop.

    Bingo.
