Replacing Quad LNB - options

One of the feeds from my Quad LNB (supplied by SKY) has stopped working - I've switched cables over & its definitely not sending a signal, so I need to replace it (well out of warranty).

I have the standard Sky Dish, but just wondering what the best option for replacement is - i.e. do I go for another bulk standard Quad or is there a 'better' replacement option for me ?

I have multiroom with sky+ in one & HD in another, so use all 4 feeds.

I have an old UK sky box lying around - can that be linked in if I get a 'bigger' LNB (is there any benefit in it ?) - just throwing out ideas here as whilst I'm ok on the technical front, I dont really know what satellite options are around...

    cheers

a bog standard one from fleabay will do you.
you can always get an octo .

as you have checked the connections on the lnb then access isn't a problem.

Access to the dish is easy as its mounted at just above ground level in the front garden.......

Have you tried the cable in one of the outputs that you know are working i.e. feeding the other room? Its unusual but not impossible for one of the outputs of a quad going, Id say its more than likely the cable that is the problem.

Yep - no signal to input '2' & perfect signal to input '1', switched the cable on the LNB & got a perfect signal to input '2' and no signal to input '1', so its definitely a problem with the LNB.

Have this sorted now anyway as chatting to Tony yesterday & I'm going for a freesat on top of my HD box (so the missus can record The Bill - major brownie points !!) & will replace the quad with an Octo.

Just waiting to get paid at the end of the month

If you reversed the cables then it proves that the cabling is faulty and not the lnb.

If you read what the poster wrote you would see the fault moved from cable 2 to cable 1, thus indicating a problem at the LNB.;)
