Good field for this although the matchplay is taking from the event a little. 9 Irish players involved this week, big one for Gary Murphy. Irish scores so far:

    Hoey par (3)
    Lawrie par (18)
    McDowell par (18)
    Harrington par (5)
    Murphy par (2)
    McGrane +1 (3)
    Lowry +2 (2)
    McGinley +2 (18)
    Clarke +1 (6)

Ian Poulter leads the way after a 66 with Ernie Els a shot off after a 67.

It seems to have resumed just recently.... presumably thunderstorm delays earlier.

Yep, heavy rains according to RTE. There's a Thai player on +11 through four holes, must be one of the worst starts ever recorded, a quadruple at his first and a 10 at the par four thirteenth.

Wow! And this guy actually has a world ranking of 680!
    +13 thru 5 now

Just looking at his (Somkiat SRISA-NGA) stats - he made the cut at the Ballantines, but shot 89, 87 on the weekend to finish on +33. He made 3k that week for his efforts.

He actually won a couple of titles back in 2001 by the looks of it, but has $236k since 2002.

Don't think he'll be adding to that this week!

I'd hate to be in his group. The course seems to be playing tough, only 28 players under par so far.

That should suit our boy... I'm never comfortable with him when it's a birdie-fest but I like his performances in more difficult events... time will tell.
It's 7pm there now so play could be suspended again?

Huge week for Gary Murphy. I hope he makes it. He is a likeable guy.
Pity he missed the cut in Portugal. That would have done it for him.

Fair dues to Peter Lawrie for being level par through 18, steady by Harrington and more importantly Murphy both level par through 10 & 6.

Seems a tough course after the last couple of free scoring weeks on the European tour. Harrington said something in the week that the course set up wont suit him as much as last year as the fairways are tight the pin positions are difficult to get at, saying something along the lines that he gambles a bit and feels he could be punished more. We’ll wait and see..

His playing partners are level and -1 so i'd say Somkiat fells like a bit of a hacker right now!

Poor old Somkiat retired after his 6 holes

    After R1|Currently
    Lawrie even|Yet to start R2
    McDowell even|Yet to start R2
    McGrane +2|even (-2 thru 11)
    Clarke +2|even (-2 thru 15)
    Murphy +2|even (-2 thru 11)
    McGinley +2|Yet to start R2
    Harrington +3|+3 (even thru 14)
    Lowry +3|+4 (+1 thru 11)
    Hoey +6|+7 (+1 thru 12)
I think that +2 was 70th overnight so the cut could end up there depending on conditions today... loads of players yet to start R2 and only a couple of hours daylight left today.

I wonder was he allowed to set foot back out or is he swimming with the sharks now...
The women's tour in America has an 88 rule

Squeeky bum time... the smurph and the tunnocks teacake are both on the cut line at +2... which is currently tied for 64th!

Murphy throws in 2 late bogeys and to make us sweat... f sake.
Won't be much more play there now so we have a long wait again...

Get in there!! He birdied it to get back to +2 overall and is now t43. Should ben enough to make the cut and, if he can knock together two decent rounds this weekend, his card.

+2 for the round and +1 overall you mean.... it's bad enough it being the wrong side of the world but these delays are head-wrecking too :D
    Well done to Coltart...

    Well done to Coltart...

Sorry Licksy, you were dead right!! Bad start to his third round, but hopefully he can pick up some shots tomorrow.

If Murphy can pick up a cheque he should be ok. I posted a thing a few pages back from a paper which said that Coltart should be ok at 125 with a good few names set to be taken out the running having not played enough events. Murphy is 124 just now so i take it that would make him ok too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,591 ✭✭✭✭Aidric

This tournament has been a nightmare for players and organisers. Play suspended for the third day in a row. Murphy is making things very difficult for himself.

  • Subscribers Posts: 4,419 ✭✭✭PhilipMarlowe

I don't think that that many will be taken out of the running though... well, not enough anyway. Coltart will pass him out... Lucquin on 126 will pick up a cheque in Singapore too.
15 Greens and 35 putts on Thursday... same old same old.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,987 ✭✭✭Trampas

I think he is going to the school.

    Way to many putts.

35 and 32 is about 7 to many.

    Only 6 1putt over the 2 days

Terrible stats lads. In fairness the guy was given every chance with an invite this week.

Such a pity this tournament is such a stop start affair, I was in Sentosa earlier this year, an island connected to Singapore, it’s a lovely place and the people are so friendly, unfortunately the tour has just caught the bad end of the weather there. When I was there it was humid dead heat, saying that it would have been difficult to play golf than too!!

If Peter Lawrie finishes in is current position T13 he get €53,000, not bad at all

Yeh, between the weather and the time difference, it's a bit of a strange week. At least they don't have it as bad as the US though... even cancelled completely due to rain!!

Yeah I know, and after the last few silly easy scoring tournaments when players ripped up the courses I was looking forward to this one especially so when Harrington said it was going to be tough. I’d say the officials in the European Tour must be ripping their hair out!
