First time newbie poster here in this part of Boards

I have a regular Sky box and managed to pick up a second hand (3 months old) Sky Plus box from adverts

I want to switch my card over to the new box and is it just a case of calling Sky to get it matched or will I get charged for it?

Do I need to take extra channel package to get plus working?

I am normal 4 or 6 mix package with no premium channels etc

Yes to calling them to activate Sky+ functions.

No to having to get extra packages.

You'll also need to run a 2nd cable from the dish to your box, and upgrade your lnb to a quad if you already don't already have one, to get the full functionality of the Sky + box!

    Cheers guys for the help

I have a quad lnb currently installed and also picked up octo lnb on adverts

I have 4 cables going to main sat tv point with one been used to feed amp in attic for other rooms so only matter of putting f connector onto second lead to plus box

will give sky buzz in the morning

If I want to use normal box, can i just get multi room without having to pay for a new box?

You fill be able to get all the UK FTA channels without a card in the reciever.
I am currently doing the same with my old Sky reciever in the second living room.
Once you plug in the reciever with no card, you will see the English/Default EPG.

A good bit of advice is to add all the FTA channels to your favourites so you can have your own little FTA only TV Guide, without having to navigate through all the channels you can't get on the normal EPG.

I asume if you get a multiroom sub and card from Sky they will allow to use your old reciever yes.
I would be amazed if they wanted you to buy a new reciever.
