Mini vs. iMac

Do CAD packages run anyway decent on a mini or the entry level imac?

I haven't a clue about macs but am planning on getting my girlfriend one for her birthday. She uses powercad or some other CAD package for work and is always complaining she has to work late or weekends and can't finish her work at home because whatever software she uses only works on a mac.

It will run the same on any new enough mac. How well I don't know, I think there was a thread about it recently though.
