remote cabin in the snowy mountains

I'm looking to book a holiday for myself and my girlfriend, from January any country. Ideally im looking for somewhere beautiful and very picturesque with guaranteed snow, doesnt matter what country but I will be traveling from Dublin airport so somewhere with conviniant flights and transfers. Id also like somewhere relatively remote and preferably a chalet where we can stay on our own. the idea of have in my head is like a lovely cabin with wooden floors and log fire, where i can cut my own logs etc ( like in the movie) we are in our early twenties. So is there anyone would recommend?

you would be able to get a 4 bedroom cabin in a small village or just on the outskirts of one but usually they are not that remote. you will have neighbours! you should be able to find one in chamonix, morzine, or la plagne. been to these areas and stayed in 6 bed room houses.. know there was smaller when we were looking..

I would reccomend doing a bit of googling on this one, as major tour operators dont really cater for this sort of thing!

Try somewhere a little bit unusual, like norway (flights to oslo are very affordable). I also remember seeing places like that in livigno... again google it...

Have to agree with paulharte there, i live in Norway, you should have no problem finding a nice cozy cabin in one of the many resorts here. You will be blown away by the scenery over here!

One place in particular i can recommend, is a place called Hovden. Go anytime Jan to March, gauranteed snow, tons of the stuff. We rented a beautiful log cabin there just like you want, sauna, big open fireplace etc etc.
