The Sun are running this promotion again, apologies if already posted. The code for today that expires at midnight is SUN1012. Basically you book your ticket online at www.irishrail.ie and when paying enter the code in the box 'Voucher number' at the bottom of the web page. New code is printed again tomorrow.

is this certain off peak times or all times and all dates?

is this certain off peak times or all times and all dates?

I tested it out by booking late in November at off peak times. €10 return Cork to Dublin :) Excellent work OP

There are no restrictions listed in the small print. Only thing I can see listed is "Standard class fares are not available in conjunction with premier class travel when making a booking."

They did the same promotion earlier in the summer and pretty much everyone was satisfied with what they tried to book. Promotion ends Saturday, I'll post Thursday's code early tomorrow, as today's code expires at midnight.

Cheers OP, thats a great offer.

Just one question, Do you have to travel back on the train time you book or could you travel on an earlier/later one that day?

I don't use the train much, but generally you should travel back at the time booked. I have missed a train before and travelled on a later one and the checker didn't have a problem, but you could meet a nasty one.

I think the rule is that you can travel on any train that day, so long as the ticket price would have been the same or less.
So if you booked the cheap off peak fare, and tried to travel at 5pm, you could be in trouble, but if you booked 11am and got the 2pm train (for example), you should be fine.

First off - Many thanks to OP ... this is a great bargain offer!

As for travelling earlier/later, I've done it on a few occasions, and generally without any problems. That being said, if you have the time it is worthwhile going to the ticket desk and getting the teller to stamp your ticket if you do decide to do this ... It'll save any hassle later if you run into a jobsworth ticket inspector!

Whats the situation with the tickets in regard to where you start your journey. I'd like to go from Dublin to Carlow, can i just hop on at carlow which is a stop on the waterford line with one of these tickets.

Once you buy the ticket from their website you can determine where you want to get on and off.

Anyone know how long more this promo is running for. I am not travelling til Nov 28/29 and tickets cannot be booked more than 28 days prior todeparture.

It says 'All this week' so I presume it will be over on Saturday.

Do these vouchers work for tickets from Dublin to Belfast/Derry??

Sorry if it's been asked in a previous thread.

Friday's code is SUN1014. I won't be around tomorrow to post the last code, hopefully someone else will have it.

They work for any train booked on the Irish Rail website, you just put the code in at the bottom of the page where it says 'Voucher Code' so there is no reason why it won't work for you. I saw a lad book a train to Portadown earlier in the week posted on here.

It appears you can for Belfast but not for Derry.

Well this has been a great thread. Just booked 8 tickets for various times in November from Cork to Dublin. Not only did I manage to go at the cheap times (€10 each way) for some of them, but got 50% on top of that. Thanks OP you've save me just under €100!

They must have only ran it Monday to Friday. There was a big upright half page ad featuring the promotion, you couldn't have missed it, only conclusion is that it must not have run 'all this week' as they said. Looks like it will be a regular thing as it was in at the tail end of the summer. I'll keep an eye out for it and post again if it's in.

U reckon it will be on this week? If not, can a code form last week be used? I am going to Mayo on Friday....would be handy!

    Cheers,
    M

No it's not on this week, the codes expired each day at midnight, it may run again, but I'd say it would be a few months at that.
