    Howdy,

Am just getting ready to order Hollowcore Slabs (150mm) for our self build. One company has come back to me with a good price for Hollowcore slabs that have the cores already insulated...anyone got any experience of these? Hav'nt seen them before and have asked them for U value spec. Is it possible for the insulation in the cores to really contribute much to overall U value, considering the gaps between the insulation in the cores? Curious to hear any feedback?

What is the point in insulating the cores?

These are internal, so there is no heat transfer accross the slab.
The tranfer along the slab through the wall is minimal, and the insulation layer is outside this anyway.

I imagine they are designed as roof slabs, where it might help a little. I wouldn't nother to be honest.

note, it may have acoustic benefits, but the OP refers to U-values specificaly. And hollowcore slab don't exactly perform poorly in terms of acoustics to begin with.

More or less what I was thinking...I thought maybe with heating zones upstairs and downstairs it may possibly help to hold more heat downstairs...

I am currenlty doing a self build, I have `100mm cavity, which is being pumped. Do I need to put an 38mm insulated slab on the inner leaf.
    Any suggestions!!
