Sky + copy function recording interrupted

Does anyone have any idea of what's happening when I attempt to use the copy function on Sky+. The first recording goes ahead fine. The problem seems to occur when the sky box switches from the 1st to the 2nd recording. Instead of the 2nd recording a blue screen comes up with the message recording interrupted, please wait. This stays on screen until you hit select.

    Any ideas people ?

Can you tell us what programmes you are trying to record? A number of people are reporting copy issues with certain programmes - see this post http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055717691

Have you tried just recording the second programme on its own?

Yes and it works when you record the second programme seperately

Ok - well, ignore my previous post - it's not related to copy protection.:)

Can I take it you are trying to record two programmes onto one file? What are you recording to? What length are the programmes?

Yes; last night it was 2 films totalling 4 hours so i set the DVD recorder to record ELP which is for 4 hours recording. The DVD has the first film recorded and then 2 hours of the Sky box message "RECORDING INTERRUPTED, Please wait".

I set the box to record last night and when I checked this morning the message was still showing.

You don't have auto-standby enabled on the SKY box by any chance? It kicks in after a couple of hours inactivity. Just a thought.

It will not cause the Sky+ Recording to stop, i think.

Did a bit of googling - this error message seems to be related to cards not being paired correctly to SKY boxes. It's a bit confusing in that you can view and copy the second film manually, but not in combination with the first film:confused:
Is there any chance you changed cards recently or changed packages and the second film you're trying to copy was originally recorded when you had a different package line-up?

The thing about SKY+ is that it will let you record stuff, but won't let you play it back if you're not subscribed to that package.

Have a google yourself and you may find someone who has reported your exact symptoms;)

Thanks Tony I've had a look and nothing seems to match my problem - looks like I'm going to have to get a loan and phone Sky

I couldn't face the wait or the money hemorrhaging, so I tried it again a couple of times and it worked both times.

I wonder whether the problem happens when a show is pin protected ?

Could very well be a PIN protection issue - did you have to key in a PIN;)
After the watershed, you don't have to key in a PIN (depending on your settings), but if you were copying during daylight hours it might have stopped after copying the first film, if the second one needed a PIN.
