as above spilled orange(i know i know) all over the keyboard. turned it straight off and had it over the radiator for a few hours to try dry it out.
Tha was wednesday, been away in london all weekend so only got home last night to turn it on and didnt work....
even when i stick in the power lead the little light wont come on!
    • basically is it fried? graveyard scraps now?
    • and if so can I get teh info off the hardrive as have loads of downloaded movies and films and personal writing material saved? ( and no its not backed up, yes silly me)

    thanks

should use a fan in that situation, don't think a radiator will be as useful.

If you're handy, take it apart and seperate the components. the orange is probably sticky and gunked up the components, if you want to go to the trouble of using some cotton buds and some white spirits to clean it up you might get it back working.

on your other question, you can remove the hard drive and use a usb "caddy" to read it from another machine (assuming the hard drive isn't wrecked too).

hot press is the preferred method. radiator may have been overkill. though the liquid didnt help either.

You may have killed it by trying to start it before it was dry. But leave it in the hot press for a week or two. dont do anything with it that involves turning it on till the 2nd week of november at the earliest.

Hard drive issue is simple, buy a 2.5" enclosure from any PC vendor, yank it out and hook it up to any other machine through USB.

I spilt a full glass of coke on a laptop,At around 2 in the morning, totally dissembled the whole thing and left it for the night to dry,Tried in the morning(lunch time) and it was dead,Left it about 2 monthes and I checked it recently and it's working,Keep it as a back up and test it in a few monthes, better than binning it!

Nothing seems to happens quickly when It's drying give it a long time.

Aye i think the radiator was overkill. Hotpress is the way to go, but even still there's no guarantees.
