    Right, so,

After defraging my computer, after disabling most background start up programs to make vista run smoother, after upgrading my ram to 2gig, after running numerous virus checks to no avail, after deleting a load of programs that may slow down the computer, my computer still keeps taking ages to load up information and still crashes at time. The only thing I can think of is that there is only 14gb of hardrive space left (out of what was meant to be 80 but I believe 30 of that is taken up by vista). So does anyone know if the hard drive on these laptops, the amilo li1705, can be upgraded? I heard a rumour it has to be sent back to the factory but not too sure. Also, can the wireless card be upgraded? IM constantly loosing internet connection. Trying to look at 2 websites at the same time is like reverting back to the internet connections of the early 90's!

    Thanks!

Im sure it can. 99% of laptop HDDs can be easily user-replaced. Just a few screws and it slides out or whatever. Turn your laptop over and you'll see. Sometimes they'll have a bracket that needs to go on the new one, but thats about it.

You're looking for a 2.5" drive. One thing you'll need to know is if its a SATA drive, or an older ATA (IDE) drive. Most laptops from the last few years should be SATA anyway. But if its older you might need a ATA drive. Google should help with that - or else just get the model number of your drive and post it here. (right-click the drive in 'My Computer' and go to the hardware tab - post the model number, don't mind if it says ATA that doesnt mean anything).

Also, make sure you have all your important stuff backed up. And you'll need the Windows CD to reinstall the OS on the new drive.
