Masters Research Project

    Aghh, pulling my hair out trying to come up with a decent idea for a project to do. Im doing a full-time masters in Pharmaceutical process control and automation in DIT kevin street &i have no idea bout what to do.

    Anyone heard of anything interesting going on in the field?

    Doing an IT msc and trying to get an idea. Just keep googling and reading. I just came across something tonight. It does reck the head alright.

    Could you not take something that exists on or in a production line already and re-engineer or reverse engineer it and hook it up to a PLC to automate it?

    Only problem is finding a process to do it on, as i dont work for a company i cant get any information from them to base it on

    How about something to do with automated tablet pressing or filling??
    Iv just seen a bit of it in Teva and Genzyme here in waterford. Plenty of info floating around on it too. I know how horrible it is had to pick my fyp a wile back. i feel your pain!:D

    Does it have to be at an industrial scale, or could you do a lab-based project? I don't think DIT has a pharma course, but there must be chemistry-based projects (PhD or research commercialisation) going on somewhere in the college that could benefit from process control or automation. The scale would obviously be smaller than a typical pharma production line, but you'd have lots of scope for defining your project.
