We have jsut arrived home form a long weekend away and have been burgaled. Nothing taken..... They/he/she prized open the back window with a screw driver(we think) opened the back door and left by the front. They were both left unlocked when we arrived home. The strange thing about it is they took nothing. There was money left in the kitchen in a cup (but they mightn't have seen that. They went up stairs took out or provate files and had a look through them. Nothing is missing from what we can see. They had a look through the drawer underneath the bed.
We can't see anything missing. Whats freaking me out is there were 2 laptops left in the house Nothing else was touched. No drawers rifled through etc etc.

What would they have been looking for? why didn;t they take any of the jewellry (not that we have much) or any of the other valuable stuff laptop etc etc?

The only thing that was touched was our files that store private stuff like passports bank statements etc etc? What were they looking for?

Firstly, ring the Gardaí-this is a burglary, whether they took anything or not, it's a crinimal activity and needs to be reported.

Secondly, they probably went through your files to get your bank details so they can steal your money. You need to check with your bank whether any withdrawals were made that you dont know about.

It's imperative that you act now, they could have taken your credit card details too. Ring the Guards and inquire with your Bank.

Agreed they could have been one of those atm gangs! I have heard of peoples bank statements been taking out of green bins and there details used!

Is there any reason that people would want information about you - are you involved in any legal disputes or the like?

Ring the Gardai. Tell your bank. The bad news is that they may now be able to make a false passport, and take a loan out in your name. Haven't heard of it happening much here, but seemingly it's a problem in the USA.

As for nothing missing, I doubt it. Look at what was not touched, and see is anything missing from that.
