Just wondering what people's experiences have been of late with regards finding/applying for general admin/office roles that two years ago agencies were biting your hand off to get you on their books for!

Are people finding things quieter, how long have you been looking...?

A friend in HR gave me the impression that the work is still there but that things have slowed. I had this conversation over 6 months ago so I'd love to know if anyone had more accurate info.

Also, can anyone recommend agencies? Good/bad experiences etc appreciated.

I'd have to recommend Brightwater Support- they sell very hard, but if it's a stop-gap job you need for example and you are well qualified, they will go all out for you.

    are you looking MCMT yourself?

    Cheers for the tip.

No, it's not for me. I'm enquiring on behalf of my gf (posted a sep thread about it). She's moving over here from Canada - works in the fashion industry (marketing, merchandising, product development etc). It looks like it'll be very tough finding work in her industry but I thought she could always temp in the meantime.

But I'm also trying to nose out the best agencies for her career-wise so thanks again for the tip.;)

A lot depends on the skills. Fast typing and familiarity with computer applications is very helpful.

I have 2 years experience working in an office and have completed computer applications courses and I havent had an interview all year!! Does anyone know what you have to do to get an interview? How much experience could they possibly need. Lying is very tempting at this stage...

sometimes its just down to luck... the better half got a job as her brothers friend is in HR and just managed to get her in for an interview with a company before the deadline closed and she got it. its admin role and she was looking just 3 weeks.

Same with myself i was only looking 3 weeks but my industry is doing very well at the moment, always does during hard times...
