Green hypocrisy

The Hollywood scumbags want to "save" the environment and apparently flying is one of the worst thing you can do and they want to ban little people like me from flying, but they think they have the right to fly over the world left right and center.

Most "environmentalists" I've met are nothing but hypocrites like these celebrity assholes.

Just check this clip on Youtube to see what "environmentalists" are like.

This post will probably be locked by some admin for "trolling" just because you can't stand someone with another opinion than that of the champagne socialist elite.

Doesn't disprove the overall message from the film, or indeed environmentalists.

I agree that it is hypocrisy... :-o still I'm convinced by what they say (ie pollution = bad)

Who have you met then to justify such a sweeping statement?

I'm guessing you're forgetting the whole entourage of people like Al Gore, Bono and prince Charles.

SLUSK you clearly have a lot of anger issues (I have some myself) but I haven't seen any of the Holywood set saying they want to ban flying - there again I haven't watched the Al Gore movie. That said, there has been an explosion in cheap air travel and it probably could do with a serious reduction but how to do that in a way that doesn't favour the super rich over the rest of us is a problem.

Forget flying, the amounts of mercury put into the water table by the wholesale dumping of CFL lightbulbs in 8-10 year's time will make the Thalidomide scandal look positively tame.

What uni gave you a degree in amateur psychology?

Doesn't this hypocrisy bother you? There never was a problem when the glitterati were flying across the world but now when people like me can afford it there is a problem all of the sudden.

I met people who have been on around the world trips who think we should reduce our carbon dioxide emission, gee they couldn't have thought of that BEFORE they went on an around the world trip. Anyone who isn't willing to reduce their standard of living to third world standards is a hypocrite if they also consider themselves to be environmentalists.

Living in harmony with nature means humans will die like flies. I honestly believe environmentalism to be a more dangerous ideology than national socialism or communism.

The infant mortality rate among indigenous peoples living a pre-agrarian lifestyle, would seem to make that a fact.

That "fact" would entirely depend on a pre-agrarian lifestyle being the only definition of living in harmony with nature.

SLUSK, I like your sweeping statrement so I'm going to give you one :)

Your profile says your from Dublin so now I'm going to say a sweeping statement which says that all Dublin people hate environmentalists and being green.

Now of course this has no basis in reality with no facts or figures to back this up, but its a sweeping statment so its fun just like your post :)

David MacKay explains it nicely here concerning planes.

Depending on your outlook, the days of cheap flights could be
    numbered.;)
