Just after reading on the Aer lingus website that they are movin all check-in to areas 3,4 and 5. Here it says below....

We wish to advise our passengers who will travel to the UK, Germany, France and Italy that, with effect from Monday 26th October 2009, the Check-in area at Dublin Airport for flights to these destinations will be relocating.

Check-in for ALL Aer Lingus flights (including flights to the UK, Germany, France and Italy) departing from Dublin Airport will be in areas 3, 4 and 5 on the main departures level.

Please check information boards in the terminal building for Check-in details for your flight.

How come? rent too high for area 14, more people checking-in online ?

I'll leave this thread here for the mean time because it's about discussing Airline business. This thread is not for asking about information on flights you have booked/where to go for checkin/what to do with your bags. If you have such questions, try the Travel Forum.

    Hmmm

Probably makes sense to have all activity based in the same general area I would expect, less supervision costs and easier staff movement to alleviate quick pressure situations.

I've used Area 14 a few times and always thought it was less hectic that up top, this is a pity IMO.

it will be intresting to see what airline takes up area14, not long until T2 opens so i wouldnt expect Etihad to renovate area14 just for the sake of a few months......wonder how much DAA were charging for EI to use that facility.....agree that it was a really nice addition to the terminal....

Much preferred Area 14 to check in (the few times I had a bag to check in) as it's generally less hectic than upstairs.

The self service baggage drop was excellent. Was hoping they'd roll that out to more desks. Perhaps this didn't work as well as expected so Aer Lingus are moving back to standard check in desks.

Another reason could be that with one less check in area they need less staff..
