    Is this correct?that if you can prove the emmissions on an old car then you can tax it on the new emmissions band system.
    Could I retro fit cats to an old car successfully to get the emmissions down,then use the NCT readout as proof at the tax office?

    No the tax is not true as far as I know.

    The emissions based tax bands are only applicable to cars first registered after July 08 (Jan 08 to July 08 can choose either system I think)

    Even if this were possible, I don't think fitting cats would reduce CO2 figures at all. And I don't think the NCTS measure CO2 figures either.

    Car isnt bad value if his description is ok.
    It's not expensive, but it'll be over €700 to VRT and (assuming it's a 2.8) over €1000pa to tax.
