Derek Brennans save from Shefflin

Kilkenny County Final today on TG4

A few mnutes to go, Shefflin gets the ball in a standing position in front of goal about 20m out, he canes it towards the top right corner of the goal, Brennan makes a full length dive across the goal and diverts it out wirh his hurl for a 65.

To add insult to injury Shefflin drives over the 65 and the umpire waves it wide!

Not on You tube yet, but an absolutely phenomenal save. One of the best that I've ever seen, And he still ended up on the losing side, They'll still be talking about it at his funeral as an old man:p

it was a good save, but not the best save i have ever seen. the best save i ever saw was davy fitzgearlds save for clare against cork in 2006 munster hurling championship from a joe deane shot destined for the top corner of the goal. i couldnt believe it was saved..

It has to go down as one of the most acrobatic, full length saves in any sport anywhere in the world. When you see it in slow motion you see it so much better and the fact that he had his hurl turned in such way to also knock the sliotar away from the goal it has to be said that he should get some kind of recognition for the save - it was that good.

I only saw the last ten minutes of the game but I was thankful after seeing that save. If it was made in an All-Ireland final people would be talking about it forever but even though it was "only" a county final it should not take away from it.
Shefflin did nothing wrong really, he hit it very well it was just an inspired save.

Its the first year he has cemented a place on the team. Good keeper. He was kilkenny intermediate keeper years back while only a sub on the club team.

What about P.J Ryans save in the final? I was out with lads from K.K this evening and they reckon because Ryan was wrong footed or saved with the opposite side it was a better save. Both incrediable
