Sound[card] Problem

    Ok here's the deal.

Some time ago, a mate of mine sent me a fake link (I believe it turned out to be malware) and I clicked it. What happened was a screen pops up and it's a moving picture (or video, cant remember which) of, eh, Lets just say, 3 old guys + shower + sponging ...I think you guys get the Idea. Some friend right?

Anyway when you click x on the window it just pops back up again so I tried ctrl + alt + delete (task manager) but my computer froze at this point and considering what was on screen, I did a 'hard-shutdown'. (for those who don't know it's holding down the power button on the PC til it turns off)

When I rebooted, alot things got messed up I think I lost some files (not that important) and eventaully I noticed my sound had stopped working.

Recently I have tried to fix this problem, I believe it's soundcard related, I Have soundblaster Live! The problem with this is (and I'm ashamed to admit it ha) that I'm still running Windows 2k (2000) until I get a new desktop so all the drivers for that sound card are only compatible with with XP and up.
I tried updating the .NET Frameworl as I heard that the XP drivers might work if I did that and no luck there as It tells me I need XP to install the .Net's (I tried 3.5 and 3.0)

Another thing I would like to point out is that I have the old Creative Zen mp3 program and if any of you are familiar with it, you'd know that it can record 'What U Hear' AKA, what comes out of the speakers. I can do this and record a song of youtube, save it, and put it on my mp3 and I can hear the song perfectly, however when I turn the speakers on, I dont hear anything which I should...

This has been puzzling me for so long so any ideas or suggestions would be most appreciated :D also, Any other info e.g, system info or just general then just ask.

    GO HERE http://majorgeeks.com/Creative_Sound_Blaster_Live_XP2K_d4597.html
download driver ,install it ,then reboot pc.
DO a full antivirus scan and antispyware scan.
Open task manager ,are there any processe,s running that are new.Google the name of the process to check if its a valid win2k process, some malware /spyware runs as a process after infecting the pc.
Google how to install a sound driver windows 2k, if you are not sure.

@surgarman Hey thanks for the link...when I was downloading it it asked me to choose a region (something to do with 'mirrors') but they didnt have Ireland so I chose one of the USA ones because I think that's just where the server is, so it doesnt matter which one I get...Anyway, the driver installed with no problems but when I rebooted, the Kx manager (sound controller/program) gave an error message regarding something to do with parameters then I disappeared and I have not seen it again. It told me to go to control panel and sound and audio and change the speakers to 5.1 surround sound (even if oyu dont have that set up) aswell as changing the harware acceleration to full and the sample rate coversion quality to best...I did all these and I tried the 'test' that the program has and still nothing... When I open up my Creative Zen program I can no longer select a recording source...its unclickable as if its not there...any Ideas?

@gamer Thanks for the link, If I cant sort this Kx manager problem out , i.e the driver I have tried above, then I'll uninstall and try your link and I will scan my computer also.
