Nostalgia- good or bad?

Nostalgia..that longing to re-live earlier times of your life.

Is it a good thing? After all, it allows us to remember all the happy times we may have had and to feel glad that they happened.

Or is it bad because we can't help but compare the lacklustre present to the idylic scenes from our past? Wouldn't mind being 12 or 13 again!

So what do you's think? I think nostalgia is a headwrecking mix of thoughts!

    My parents are nostalgic.

They remember a time when priests loved their children, crimes never happened, and all the summers were warm and sunny.

Reality on the other hands tells us that priests 'loved' children, crimes were never reported, and if crank science is to believed, summers are supposed to be colder 40 years ago.

Damn yous. I was gonna say Nostalgia ain't what it used to be.

I remember back in my day when I would be the first person to post a witty reply on the first page of the thread in AH. That was even before the thanks system was in place. A simple quote of my whole post with a +1, a lol or a :) would be enough to gratify me for about half hour it would. You kids just don't know how easy you have it these days.

Nostalgia is only felt when one is feeling melancholy, therefore it's not exactly a positive feeling, but mildly negative. It's a yearning for a time gone by.

All done with the puns??, *pause...* ok then.

Nostalgia is a positive, thinking back to when we had hot ass summers...I remember my dad fried an egg on a wall out Our back garden in the early 90's which always puzzled me as he could never manage to fry an egg in a pan.

Nostalgia is a positive, thinking back to when we had...................

Nostalgia is only a cause of depression in this fair land, We should not be looking back at what we once had and feeling sorry for ourselves.
    Nostalgia should be banned

We can't bust heads like we used to, but we have our ways. One trick is to tell 'em stories that don't go anywhere - like the time I caught the ferry over to Shelbyville. I needed a new heel for my shoe, so, I decided to go to Morganville, which is what they called Shelbyville in those days. So I tied an onion to my belt, which was the style at the time. Now, to take the ferry cost a nickel, and in those days, nickels had pictures of bumblebees on 'em. "Give me five bees for a quarter," you'd say.

Now where were we? Oh yeah: the important thing was I had an onion on my belt, which was the style at the time. They didn't have white onions because of the war. The only thing you could get was those big yellow ones...

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

Aw I always feel a bit sad when reminiscing. Reeling In The Years makes me quite emotional (positive and negative).

Me too, looking back at how FF have been screwing us all for decades. Then their pre-election promises to clean up politics, followed up, after getting elected, by another big helping of sleaze, dodgy dealings, and a cosmic screwing for you and me

nostalgia reminds me how much I used to hate the bastards....

I must have been far more 'chilled out' when I was younger, I'd fcuking burn them all alive now :D

It's really a mix of both for me. I mean I love sitting down with a cup of tea or a few cans and talking to friends about all the laughs we had "back in the day" but at the same time I get that feeling of time gone by that you'll never get back and how I'm too busy now to have a laugh like I used to.

    And I'm only 20!!

I tells ya, once you're past 17 things change....
