    SAMHAIN 2009
    25/10/2009

    Haunted Happenings this Halloween

    Venue:- Marlay Park

    Sunday | OCTOBER 25th - FREE EVENT

    5pm-9pm: Haunted Woods Walk | 7pm: Fireworks

On Sunday, October 25th from 5pm, Marlay Park will be a FREE fright fest of spooky thrills and chills for Samhain 2009 hosted by DLR Events. Visit Marlay Park in your Halloween costume for a spooky walk through the haunted forest! Made bigger and better for 2009 the haunted woods are not for the faint hearted with spooky characters, scary noises, the eerie fog and strange sights to behold! A magnificent fireworks display at 7pm will light up the sky in spectacular technicolor. See www.dlrevents.ie

The woods will be open from 5pm to 9pm so visitors can enjoy the spooky woods in their own time either before or after the fireworks. The evening comes to an end with Marlay Parks own special Samhain fireworks display at 7.00pm which can be viewed from the fireworks viewing area is in front of Marlay House.

The observance of Halloween, which dates from the dark ages, has long been associated with thoughts of witches, ghosts, devils and hobgoblins. Today, many of the young and “young-at-heart” take a more light-hearted approach and the colourful festival has become family-oriented celebration.

DLR Events recommends the use of public transport or walk to the event where possible. All times are approximate and subject to change. There is limited car parking in the car park off Grange Rd. Please do not park on the roads or in local estates. Access to the event will be through the Grange Rd entrance at Marlay House – please stay to the lit routes at all times after dark and follow the instructions of the stewards. Samhain is an initiative by Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council

A belief in gender identity involves a level of faith as there is nothing tangible to prove its existence which, as something divorced from the physical body, is similar to the idea of a soul. - Colette Colfer
