Sonos are very expensive, but if ya can afford it go for it. I use a Squeezebox Duet. Cheaper and does a great job for me. I would think the Sonos is better for multi room probably, but I just wanted to be able to stream my music to my main stereo. If I wanted to I could add more receivers.

thanks for the link, will have a look at that one....so, it seems like the big advantage of sonos is you can add NAS and therefore don't need your laptop on at all. Not sure if squeezbox has this function....

As far as I know you can use NAS also. I'm just using an old computer as a media server. I'll probably have to upgrade to a NAS eventually.

Looks like squeezebox might be just the thing and the duet is available in komplett for €269 at the moment....as for the NAS option, just saw this coming up in lidl, do you think it would do the job?

I haven't really researched into the NAS myself yet. The little I have done I've found most recommend a headless server. Check out the wiki and the forums for loads of good information...

Good luck, and enjoy. It's a nice system.

    Srs resurrection of this thread...

I've got a Sonos system myself. Although it's more expensive than most of the competition, it's really worth the extra money for its sleek interface. I've got it connected direct to a NAS so no pcs have to be on which is essential really since if a pc has to be on you may as well just use iTunes on the pc.

The internet radio capabilities are brilliant too! I use it as my alarm clock, every morning 2fm starts up in a given zone.

Sonos will also update your last.fm too!
