My friend inherited a sky box (with card in slot) and sky+box (no card in slot) from previous tennants , I went over to set up this afternoon and got picture but no sound on fta channels. Boxes look new , no dust, more than can be said for rest of house.
What am I doing wrong? Sorry if this has been asked before , I have looked but not found.

If you got sound and picture it sounds like the scart lead is either not in fully or is damaged in some way. Take out both ends of the scart lead and check that no pins are pushed in further than the other ones.

If you arent using a scart lead and instead an rf lead, check the tuning menu and make Sure you select Pal I or if using a philips tv make sure you chance the sound channel to the uk or you wont have sound.

    Hope that helps.

thanks for reply Steveon , but it can't be scart as I brought boxes home , unplugged my FTA box and attached the sky boxes to my scart and still no sound from either box.

Only other thing I can think of is to try the sound setting on the boxes...

    Press services
Then no 4 on keypad System setup
    Then no 2 Sound settings

Make sure the volume is moved to the rite hand side...make line grey and then go down to save new settings and hit select.

Id find it strange both boxes would have no sound.

Just moved the sound grey bar to the right for the SKY+ box and .... still no joy, cant do this for the sky box as I don't have a remote control for that box.

OOPS! I checked the connections and found the problem , the scart! Just like Steveon said. Sorry , and herself pointed out that I'm always yanking at these things and probably yanked the scart out of our friends TV also.
