    Hi,
New to the board, and really need help. My OH bought an Alba RDVD1006, in the hope that we could record some of our faves from sky. We have sky+, and have got the system as follows -
    sky+ --> dvdr --> tv
there is also a scart going from the sky box directly into the tv.

Its doing our heads in cause everyone keeps telling us, "oh thats easy" uh uh, not to us. We just cant seem to suss it.
    Please help - anyone???

    Thanks in advance.

Why do you need a DVD Recorder when you have a Sky+ Box as this also records programs?

I presume so he can keep the recordings. Sky+ recordings are lost if you drop the sub to whatever mix it was taken from ie: Movies, Sports etc

    Does the system record anything?.

If the caples are connected correctly then you should see the program on the TV. Check that the scart cables are going from the Sky+ box to the input scart on the Alba and the output scart goues tothe TV.

If you can see the menu from the Alba box then select source or AV input to get the sky signal

Playback the recorder program and you should be able to record.

I am having different problems with copywrite. See this post http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055717691

thanks for the answers, and yes, the reason I want to be able to record is because you cant keep every thing that you like on sky+.

Have tried the scart to dvd to tv, but I wonder if the scart in the sky+ box should be from the tv output or the video output?? Maybe thats where Im going wrong!!

I am not in front of mine at present but think I had a composite from tv to dvd recorder and an rf cable going from sky box into the dvd and that seemed to work if I remember correctly.

EDIT: Think there was a scart going from sky box to dvd also. mine was a complicated setup but worked in the end.

I have a DVDR between a standard sky box and TV as follows (but you should be able to do the same on SKY+):

Scart 2 on Sky Box ----> Scart IN on DVDR
    SCART Out on DVDR
    > SCART In (2) on TV
SCART 1 on Sky box ----> SCART (1) on TV

When I want to record from SKY, I have to select the SOURCE on the DVDR as SCART, have you checked it is set to this, as it is not the default option. Once you do that you should be able to play the items you want to record to disc from the SKY+ box, and record it on the DVDR. However, if I'm not mistaken, this means you have to watch what you're recording to disc as you can send out 2 signals from the SKY box.

I'd try to arrange to do this when there's nothing on and leave the room while it's transferring to disc.
