The Gym?

I'm a student there and I just joined the gym but the free weights section isn't very good. I'm not a member of any of the sports clubs, just lift weights but the regular gym doesn't have enough for me to progress.

Does anyone know a way to get into the higher performance gym? Can you get an assessment done to qualify or any club you can easily join that have access to it?

I didn't join for this very reason, they only give access to the high performance area if your course involve's that area, or if you are on a team, eg- soccer/gaa.

Did you have to do anything to get access? Are you maybe a member of any of the socs that have access?

I was talking to them for the whole of the first week and they kept saying no, so I wasn't going to waste my money.

A lot of the teams aren't allowed in there. It's basically for the GAA team and for outsiders like the Dublin GAA team.

They used let a lot more people in but just recently they've been tightening up and only the select few get in.

Maybe they got a bit lax but it had been really strict there for years. Mate tore his ACL and there was a specific machine in there he needed to use to help his recovery and he was told f off. I play a minority sport and we have a number of Irish internationals and when we asked if they could use the elite gym they were told no chance either.
