we all know how quick and easy it is to eat a chocolate bar or biscuit, just unwrap and eat..... a quick and easy snack obvisously not heatly but a quick snack.

so i'm looking for healty snacks that are as easy to eat as above, apart from the obvious option of friut.

    cheers.:D

Nuts or seeds are just a matter of open and eat. You can get Good4U seeds that come in little packets that are the perfect size for snacking.

If you are at home, then something like cottage cheese or sugarfree jelly is good. Take out of the fridge and eat.

I've got another one you might like: small bars of chili chocolate. You can buy 30g bars of Montezuma chili chocolate. The chocolate is 72% which is high enough to have health benefits, and the chili means you eat it slowly.

How easy is easy? Would you bake? Are you looking for low fat or just healthy, there are alot of seed and nut bars out there, granola bars are also good too - living nature ones are low calorie and fat wise, but it depends on what kinda snack you want - healthy and low fat or what??!!!

pref. low fat, as i have my proteins EFA's and carbs sorted, its just a nice snack when you feel peckish is what i'm looking for, yes, i would bake in advance.

Flapjacks are a total winner if you're willing to bake. You can put whatever you like in them. Here's a good thread on the fitness forum with recipes.

    Thanks to Eimhearwwl,

    150g oats
    75g raisins or cranberries
    30g pumpkin seeds
    20g sunflower seeds
4 egg whites or 2 eggs depending on how low fat
    1tsp cinnamon (optional)
40g coconut (optional again depending on how low fat)
10g sweenter (I didnt want a too sweet flapjack so left out sugar and was still nice)

Roast seeds and oats till golden brown, cool for ten min, add fruit, cinnamon and mix, add eggs and mix again. Put in greased (spray oil is best) 9in tin and cook at 180 (fan oven) gas mark 6 for 15 min!!

Cut into 16 squares and enjoy :)

I'd go for seeds and nuts and some dried fruit like raisins, sultans or dried cranberries...just because they're not the typical items in your fruit bowl. A friend recently baked some wholemeal muffins with raisins, they were really nice and a suprisingly healthy snack...unfortunatly I can't put my hand on the receipe at the moment but if I find it I'll pop it up.

Surf Seeds are nice but probably a little pricey to be buying them all the time.
It definitely works out cheaper to make your own in the long-term, and when you know you have the snack there, it is easier to resist the shop stuff (apart from those nice choc-covered Bunalun rice cakes :D)

Just grab a big bag of nuts or seeds from Holland & Barrett and put a small portion into a ziplock bag/tupperware container every evening - so much cheaper and less packaging.

I used to bring in the whole bag but seeds & nuts are calorie dense and very easy to over-snack on.

Lately I've been having these too:

    cottage cheese on ryvita
    and
150g of raspberries + 200g fat free natural yoghurt = holy god delicious snack for < 200 calories.

Cottage cheese is 59c in lidls. They sell ryvita equivalent things for 79c. 500g of frozen raspberries is 2.99 and 500g of fat free natural yoghurt is only 58c!
