    Guys,

Does activating a Sky FTV card in a HD box affect the HD set-up in anyway?
It will then be used in another Sky Digibox.

Actually, this might be a FTA card.
I had a card which I bought 3 years ago and it showed BBC etc. I got an on screen prompt a few weeks ago and have had a friend appply for a new one for me.
He has Sky HD and we were wondering if he could activate it in his system before he sends it over. But would it affect his system?

    Firstly, it's a FTV card.

Secondly, authorising it in a HD box won't make any difference HOWEVER there are some unknowns at the moment with the new White FTV cards
    i) Do you need to tell Sky the box number it is been used for?
ii) Does the card PAIR to that box and only that box?
iii) Will the entitlements need to be updated in only that box?

Basically if any of theses questions is a yes then you're in a bit of trouble BUT as I am in exactly the same situation I may be able to give you some advice, I just got my White unauthorised FTV card today, I'm placing it in a spare Sky box I have and I am emailing my friend (who got me the card) the card AND box number so when he rings Sky he will have both at hand, if he just needs to tell them the card number then great, we know they won't be tied to a specific box but if it is I will have that box in my possession anyway so no problem authorising or updating the card.

If you want to wait a day or two I'll let you know how I get on so you can decide your best course of action?

That's what I was thinking skyman as it was what I did with my last card.
But, will the new ones be the same?

i posted the same question on the 'Digitalspy - Sky forum' a few weeks ago and was informed that this was the case by various people who had activated the new cards.

They'll probably start popping up on ebay in a few weeks/months time, make sure you get a White one though, the Blues are going to be switched off pretty soon.
