Leaky CO2 Mag

    Hi Guys,

Have a CO2 powered Beretta (KJW) from HobbyAirsoft, less than two months old, and only had 2 CO2 cannisters put through it. I put another in today and as soon as I did the mag was leaking. I tried putting silicone oil where the CO2 can goes in, but did nothing to create a better seal, and still made the hissing sound of "Grrr...I'm leaking"

Anyone know what's up with it? Or even better...anyone able to help me fix it? If it's anything serious-ish, I'll just bring it back down. But if it's minor, I'd prefer to just fix it myself.

    Thanks,

I'm no expert, but I've had that happen to me before when I tighten CO2 mags too much (if they're the sort where you screw the CO2 canister into the mag). You need it tight, but if you screw it too tight it'll vent a load of gas when you stick the mag into the gun.

My KJ co2 mags have given me nothing but hassle, and my KJ works pistol has taken a turn for the worse also :(

New O-rings, some teflon tape and silicone oil, should fix your mags.

I tried putting it in not as tightly, but no matter where it is, it's still venting gas. Seems like it's coming from the bottom rather than the top, and haven't a clue what to do. It's a little worrying if everyone's suffering the same problem.

@Lefty: How do you fix the mag with new O-Rings, teflon tape and silicone oil? A guide to fixing the mags would be very much appreciated, and i'm sure would be well used by people

You'll want to disassemble the whole mag.
Take out all the valves, remove the O-rings and replace.
Then wrap one layer of teflon tape around the valves.
Before you replace the valves spray some silicone oil on them. NOT WD40!
Wrap telfon tape around any other O-rings and spray some more silicone oil on them.
Put the mag back together and hopefully, there'll be no leaks.
I'll try and get hold of a Co2 mag tomorrow and take some pictures!

    UPDATE:

I re-oiled/lubed the mag, and just cause my friends and I wanted to shoot some targets, put in another cylinder. Same thing, still leaking. However, fired a few rounds and checked the mag; still leaking. Put the gun down, came back an hour later and fired a couple more shots, checked the mag; not leaking. Fired a few more, and no leaking. It might have taken a while for the proper seal to have been created. I don't know for sure, just guessing really...but the cannister didn't waste, nor has power been compromised.

Anyone else have any similar situations? I'm heading out to Hobby Airsoft this week to get the pistol chronod (just to set my mind at ease as it packs a serious punch and want to make sure it's under the joule), so will be getting the mag checked over.

@Lefty: If you get round to that guide, it'd be much appreciated...it'll probably end up stickied cause I'm sure everyone runs into GBB mag troubles at one point.

More likely that the pressure merely dropped to a level that the seal could contain.

In any case - the beauty of KJW pistols is this, and I know it's shocking so bear with me - took me a while to come to terms with it myself.

KJ Works actually do give a f*ck about their customers.

    I know - it's unbelievable - and I'm not even being sarcastic!

So here's what you do - email them (kjworks@ms47.hinet.net).

You'll most likely wind up dealing with Clare.

She'll direct you to the manual for your airsoft pistol and ask you to identify the part that you need.

Email's take a while as there's the language barrier and the time difference so expect replies to be around the 24hour mark but they will come.

In the case of the CO2 beretta, the manual can also be found here under "92 co2 series" and the part number you want is CM-07, the "cartridge stab".

The stab is bought complete and includes the seal, you can't buy the face seal seperately (believe me, I've tried! )

For my 1911 (and I assume it's the same part) these were $3.50ea and $2 for postage - I ordered four of them and they arrived within a week.

Not only that but they threw in a few "gifts" too by way of various other spare parts that they thought I'd appreciate - and I bloody did too.

All in all, the BEST customer service I've had from any airsoft company and as a result I won't buy anything but KJ Works pistols anymore.

Alternatively you could just bring it back to us as unless you've bounced it off walls we will replace it free of charge.

Beleive me, that is more than appreciated. I just didn't want to bother if it was something that could be fixed relatively easy.
